Huajatolla: Southern Colorado's Ancient Legends of the Land
Ages 6-13 and all who are young at heart
Florida's Threatened & Endangered ones speak to the hearts who listen and
stories of the Old Ones tell their legends from southern Colorado.
I am a mother, singer, artist, author, health practitioner, videographer and educator. Like most these days, I wear many hats. My books and music reveals my journey through life as a lover of nature, art and spiritual freedom. The Florida books were focused on the threatened and endangered ones in the Florida Everglades during the 1990s and into 2000. They were part of Young Friends of the Everglades successful Outreach Program for children. More recently, they were used to launch the Young Friends of the Everglades again in 2019-2020. The Colorado book was part of a Scenic Byway Grant for cultural history and tells of the mysterious legends of the Huajatolla Double Mountains (Breasts of the World in Comanche). All books are out-of-print. I do, however, have a few left. Feel free to use the contact form at the bottom of this page for any questions.

Save Everglades - A Land Endangered
1st Environmental Music Film with Original Music

A Little History: First original and full version of the song, Save Everglades was written in 1994 to accompany the Voices of the Earth books (BMI © 8/7/2007). Credit for the piano and the arrangement goes to the talented Jon Bainter out of Naples, Florida who hired members from the Naples Philharmonic. Bruce Claypool was the Executive Producer.
The song was dedicated to the Florida Everglades, its endangered and threatened species of life, and those that care for the land historically and presently, the Miccosukee and Seminole Native American Nations. The iconic Marjorie Stoneman Douglas, the journalist, activist, conservationist and founder of Florida's Friends of the Everglades, is honored and highlighted in this original version as a major-force in the region for education, preservation and protection of the Florida Everglades.
I had the great pleasure of meeting her in 1993 before her passing at the age of 108 in May of 1998. At that time, I was then given the distinct honor of singing this song for her at her Candlelight Vigilance in Coconut Grove, Florida. I will not forget. Creation of the music-video began just as the Deepwater Horizon oil spill burst in the Gulf of Mexico, April 20, 2010.

NEW
Save Everglades - River of Grass 2020
Kris Farquhar © BMI 2/25/2020 Available in Choral Arrangements for
children and adults by Jeff Lowden. Please contact for more information.
The new version is slightly different and has changed to fit children and adult voices in a choir. Friends of the Everglades supported this version and we are grateful. Music Sheets as PDFs are available: SA, SSA, SATB (10 pages) and Lead Sheet (3). To sing for the love of nature is healing and good for all life. Sing along with the lyrics in the video, but be ready for the Florida Puma to start it out! Visuals in every Environmental Music Film (EMF) are about education and enlightenment, therefore Lake Okeechobee is highlighted with visuals showing the results of toxic algae blooms as well as the beauty of the land. See Florida's Toxic Lake Okeechobee to understand more.
