Pacific Shore by R. Farquhar
Sound of Breath is the sound of healing
The most natural sounds in our world are in sync with the 'Sound of Breath' frequency: ocean waves seeping into shoreline, the whisper of wind through trees, a cat and a snake's hiss, the steam off hot rocks, and the gentle "hush" of comfort we give to a babe in arms. We are not separate. Like a kind of "white noise," it settles and relieves us; however, for the cat and the snake it is different. They use it like a "startle reflex" to gain mind-body control and awareness in a crisis situation. We can learn to use it the same way.
Somatic Sound Therapeutic's "Sound of Breath" exercise allows for deep internal relaxation - a key to bright health and sustainable wellness. It can shift unsettled emotions quickly into, Heart-Mind Coherence. How does it do this? By stimulating the Vagus Nerve (VN), the longest cranial nerve in the human body.
Beginning in the Medulla Oblongata, (the base of the brain) where the Parasympathetic and Sympathetic Nervous Systems originate, 'Sound of Breath' creates a Dominant Parasympathetic Response bringing the body-mind into rest and digest alleviating stress and adrenal fatigue.
Vagus Nerve then travels (Vagus means wanderer) throughout the body feeding sensory information to and from the Central Nervous System communicating, activating, and giving expression to our Body-Brain.
Some of its connecting power points are the Heart, the Abdomen (gut), and the Larynx, also known as, The Voice Box.
To express what we are feeling through our voices is a healing thing, and is perhaps why the VN is called the, Love Nerve and Caretaking Nerve as it responds to compassion. Sometimes all we have to do is tell someone what's bothering us and it most often disappears. Sound of Breath is our foundational and transformational skill taught in all Somatic Sound Therapeutics.
Our hearts are literally in our throats and in our voices. That emotional "lump in the throat" comes straight from the heart and finds release through the voice. When we moan, or cry, or yell and laugh out loud, it is a whole-body-experience.
The exercise is easily given by phone. Call for your free 15 minute consultation to set up an appointment. One 30 minute session is all that is needed to begin practicing on one's own.
Check our Services’ Page for more information and try our Sound of Breath Therapeutics' page.
There are many different breathing exercises available to us today as "conscious breathing" has become known to the general public as a medically proven tool for wellness. Managing the breath is now known to impact Heart Rate Variability (HRV), stress, and blood pressure. Find one that is right for you.
Private and group sessions available. Contact form follows.
