"They'll come a day when the young ones will lead us .. and the eyes of the world will be upon us, and we'll have something important to say...." (see link for more in credits)The sacred Empty Cradleboard Mandate was given to Canada's Parliament on July 1, 2021 by the Iroquois, the Haudenosaunee League of Nations, formally. With tears and sadness, the spirit of the lost children made their voices known to the hearts of the Haudenosaunee, and all who participated, on that powerful day. The words that soon follow are spoken by the wise elder, Mohawk Bear Clan Mother, Louise Bear Herne. With utmost esteem, she expresses the deep and crushing emotions felt by her and her people from the inhuman and ghastly treatment their families and children have had to endure through the ages. Mass graves of indigenous children found that summer is an ongoing heartache. But what is most remarkable, and is note-worthy to the greatest of degrees, is how she, and they, have handled themselves amongst the most grievous of circumstances. These People of the Long House - the Haudenosaunee - teach us well, with their sacred ways, how to act in grace, peace and power when the world must feel inconcievably cruel and unkind. They are leaders in our time - Keepers of Original Democracy - and they will assist us through the darkest of truths soon to be revealed in our own world. May we listen and learn. Bear Clan Mother speaks.... "Feel the rage Indigenous communities, but be responsible for it. We recognize that anger and vengeance never heals. Let’s NOT become like them. Because no one will feels it more than our grandchildren. And it is Canadian children who will carry this horrific legacy. To all Onkwehonwe peoples of this great land and to Canadians who believe in a greater humanity, let us lead each other toward what the world needs right now. Let Peace be our journey and let love be our fuel for we are the generation those innocent babies were waiting for. Let us bring them home to a world they didn’t get to live. Let their memory live in the cradleboard. A cradle of love filled with truth, understanding and kindness for one another. The threshold of our pain is the entrance to our triumph!” Mommabear Author: Wakerakats:te, Iakoiane of Roiane Tehanakari:ne Bear Clan Mother of the Mohawk Nation Council, Louise Bear Herne Website: www.somaticsoundtherapeutics.com Photograph: Katisionni Fox, Parliment Hill, Ottawa, Canada Live Facebook link of speech given by Bear Clan Mother: https://fb.watch/ihvOTkTGjj/?mibextid=v7YzmG Bear Clan Mother Series #5
